Project Aalima (AIF-IIMPACT Girl Child Learning Centres)



Project Aalima

  Azad India Foundation in partnership with IIMPACT funding agency based in Gurgaon Haryana is running girl child learning centers in the selected 50 villages of Pothia and Kishanganj blocks.

  The main focus of the program is to provide primary education to the girls and then mainstreaming them to the formal schools.

  The teaching is done through play-way methods and using visual aids and TLMs. About 1629 girls are currently studying at different academic levels.

  AIF conducts regular competency level tests at the Learning Centers where the knowledge level of the students isassessed through written and oral tests. This helpin assessing the weak students and giving them remedial classes.

  The teachers use several TLMs in the classrooms. These include bamboo sticks, small pebbles, cards, chart papers and pictures. The students also contribute in making the TLMs and other crafts in the class room.

  Azad India organizes capacity building of the Project team members at regular intervals to enhance the efficiency of the teachers with the support from Mr GV R Prasad, trainer from Sahajorganization based in Ranchi.

  Azad India Foundation organizes Community mobilizing meetings in the intervention area. The main points of discussion include attendance of students at the centers, quality of education etc.

     Azad India organize many activities at the Learning Centers including drawing competitions, sport days and special days like Gandhi Jayanti, Children's Day, Republic Day where the girls participate with full enthusiasm and confidence.

  Azad India is also running libraries in 15 centres with support from Room to Read and Pratham where girls enjoy reading story books.
